FIBER PREPARATION

Loop’s signature Bullseye Bumps consist of one continuous strand of roving, wound into a center-pull bump.  Much like a center-pull ball of yarn, you simply pull the roving out from the center to spin it.  

Our fiber prep is meticulous so that no pre-drafting is required. The roving is fairly thin and extremely uniform.  All you have to do is grab your spinning wheel or spindle and enjoy the experience.

SPINNING A BULLSEYE BUMP

As you spin your bump, the roving will gradually change from one color to the next.  Some Bullseye Bumps contain more color changes than others.  All the colors and striping are visible from the outside of each bump.  

We recommend leaving your Bullseye Bump in the bag provided while spinning it so that the fiber on the outside of the bump doesn’t felt from too much handling. 

PLYING A BULLSEYE BUMP

There are several options for how to ply your Bullseye Bump. 

If you would like to maintain the striping of your Bullseye Bump in your finished yarn, you can use a special technique called Navajo plying. The resulting yarn is a three-ply, but you only need to spin one single.  You can also ply your single with a neutral solid.  Or, you could simply knit with the single.  

Other fun plying ideas for Bullseye Bumps are: 1) Plying your single onto itself; 2) Plying two Bullseye Bumps together or; 3) Plying three Bullseye Bumps together!

KNITTING WITH YOUR BULLSEYE BUMP HANDSPUN YARN

There are many shawl, scarf, cowl and mitten patterns you could make with just one Bullseye Bump.  This photo shows the adorable sweater one customer knit for her daughter with just one bump! 

For larger projects, you’ll want to maximize the Bullseye Bump yardage you end up with.  You can double your yardage by plying with a neutral solid, which will become a background color.
